About Me

Cinematographer. Filmmaker. Storyteller.
Hello, I am Tala Harden. â€‹

Growing up in Buffalo, NY, I was fortunate enough to be a part of an amazingly diverse family and community. Coming from a Black American home, I learned about the richness of my family's culture and history. As a young, light skinned black woman in America, it is important for me to know how my story will be entirely different from those of my darker skinned sisters.

My skin color has forced me to learn that this world, as wonderful as it is, can be absolutely brutal and judgmental. However; In more recent years I have not let my skin color define me. Instead, I fully embrace my skin color and heritage. I encourage my community to have open minds and open hearts by educating them on the various shades of black that people have.

I hope that through my films, I can share the untold stories of people who struggle to "fit in". It is not easy being judged for something that you have no control over and my films, art, and words stepping stones towards learning how diverse the human race has become. Education and Film pair together in an amazing way, so I will take advantage of my love for both to create a more accepting and open minded community.
